Old building renovation Berlin Charlottenburg

For the redesign of a former retail space on the ground floor of a historic building in Berlin Charlottenburg, studio.kejo developed three design concepts.

The first concept focuses on clear axes, with the kitchen and dining area functionally connected. The second concept integrates a freestanding bathroom core, which serves as a room divider while maintaining an open floor plan. The third concept places the kitchen at the center, with the bathroom and bedroom arranged on either side.

The concept with the bathroom as the service core was chosen. This solution optimally zones the floor plan while creating a bright, open living atmosphere. Custom-built carpentry installations and multifunctional storage areas are connected to the core. As a result, the space is used to its full potential, while maintaining an open character that still allows for privacy.
